Lauro - 27th April 2017
Today’s game at Lauro was for individual stableford and was sponsored by David Hunter. We were also playing the end of month competition for a place in the "Champion of Champions" final. With the course in superb conditions and the spring weather perfect for golf we thought there would be some very high scores, but apart from the winner this was not the case. Our winner today with a fantastic score of 41 points playing off 16.1 cut to 13.7 and going forward to the "Champion of Champions" final was Pat O Connor. Second with 34 points playing off 14 cut to 13.5 was Any "Marigold" Hassall. Third with 33 points playing of 20.5 cut to 20.2 was Sue Cobb. Our Guest prize was won by Carl Proctor. Nearest the pin in one on hole 11 was Ken Tabner with David Hemmingway nearest the pin in two on Hole 24. Thanks to David for the great prizes.
Marbella - 20th April 2017
Today’s game at Marbella was for individual stableford and was sponsored by Catherine Shiels. What a difficult day this turned out to be. Whilst the sun was shining and the course was in good condition there was a very strong wind blowing. This meant the ball, in many cases, did not go where you thought or hoped it would go. So as you can imagine there were no high scores today.
Our winner today with 33 points playing off 25.3 cut to 24.3 and going to the top of the "Order of Merit" was Robyn Wheeler. Second with 32 points playing off 21 cut to 20.5 was Sue Cobb. Third with 31 points playing off 2.7 cut to 2.3 was John Davis. The guest prize was won by John Gardener. Nearest the pin in one on hole 3 was Anthony Tillbrook with John Davis nearest the pin in two on hole 8. We also played our last "Knock Out" competition semi final today with Tim Hemming beating Tony Anderson. Tim goes forward to play Sue Cobb in the final. Once again our thanks to Catherine for the superb prizes.
Miraflores - 13th April 2017
Today’s game at Miraflores was individual stableford and was sponsored by Norman Tillbrook. The course was in good condition and the weather perfect for golf. However despite this the scores were not that high. Our winner today with 36 points playing off 26.6 cut to 25 was Mark Mathews. Second with 35 points playing off 19.3 cut to 18.5 was Barry Douglas. Third with 34 points playing off 3 cut to 2.7 was John Davis. Nearest the pin in one on hole 13 was John Davis with Peter McDonald nearest the pin in two on hole 10. There was one knock out game today with Sue Cobb beating Peter McDonald. Another fun day with some super prizes, once again our thanks to Norman for sponsoring the day.
Parador - 6th April 2017
Today’s game at The Parador was individual stableford and was sponsored by Tony Anderson. It was also the day when we play our version of "The US Masters". Not quite the same turnout as Augusta but to us it was the chance to win our first major of 2017. A warm and sunny day with little wind made it perfect for golf and with the course it its usual good condition it made for some very high scores. Our winner of the Torreblanca US Masters with a magnificent score of 40 playing off 22 cut to 19.2 was Colin "Badger" Bryan. Second with 35 points playing off 14.5 cut to 13.8 was Andy "Marigold" Hassall. Third also with 35 points, but with a worse back nine, playing off 16.4 cut to 15.9 was Pat O Connor. Nearest the pin in on hole 13 was Simon Waby with Chris Shakie nearest the pin in two on hole 3. Another great day rounded off with some superb prizes and crazy banter back at the Red Dragon. Once again thanks to Tony for the great prizes.
