Atalaya New Course 25th April 2019
Today's game at Atalaya was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by our man from down under Tony White. It was also our end of month competition with the winner going forward to the "Champion of Champions" final. The weather in and and around Torreblanca was cold raining and windy. However for those of us who traveled to Atalaya were rewarded with a very warm but cloudy day plus a very enjoyable days golf. The course was in superb condition with the greens fast and difficult which caused some of us a problem, but not all as the winners score testified. Our winner today scoring 38 points playing of 19 cut to 16.8 going forward to our "Champion of Champions" final was Larry Byrne. Second with 35 points playing of 27.3 cut to 26.5 was Robyn Wheeler. Third also with 35 points but with a worse back nine playing off 11.9 cut to 11.5 was Andy "Marigold" Hassall. Nearest the pin in one on hole 17 was Des O Neil with Tony White nearest the pin in two on hole 7. Marbella 18th April 2019
Today's game at Marbella was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by Peter McDonald. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us today causing a reduction in our numbers. However despite the earlier rain the sun appeared and gave those of us who played a very enjoyable day. That goes especially for our winner today. Despite the conditions coming in with magnificent 40 points playing off a handicap of 15.7 cut to 13.5 was Andrew Dodd. Second with 33 points playing off 26.7 cut to 26.5 was our Southern Ryder Cup Captain Paul Winter and third also with 33 points but with a worse back nine playing off 28 cut to 27.7 was Finbarr Carroll. Nearest the pin in one on hole 9 was Larry Byrne with Simon Waby Nearest the pin in two on hole 5. Santana 11th April 2019 The TGS US Masters
Today's game at Santana was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by Peter and Pauline Bull. It was also our version of the US Masters, so forget what was happening in Augusta this was more important. The course, as always was in superb condition. The weather definitely helped the early tee times as the high wind later in the day did not help the later tee times. Our winner today and the winner of the TGS US Masters with a magnificent 38 points playing off 15.1 cut to 13.3 was that man from down under Tony White. Second with 36 points playing off 4.5 cut to 3.8 was Simon Waby and third with 35 points playing off 21.3 cut to 20.7 was Ian "Aye Say" Ashworth. The guest prize was won by Tarja Juvenon. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was Phil Ginn with Simon Waby nearest the pin in two on Hole 14. Unfortunately Peter Bull had to return to the UK so it was once again down to the man of many talents Bob Sawyer to present the prizes. There was one result in the semi final of our Knock Out Competition. Paul Winter beat Jerry Halford to go forward to the final The Parador 4th April 2019
Today's game at The Parador was for individual stableford. It was kindly sponsored by that young and charismatic Jerry Halford. It was also his 59th birthday. I know he looks a lot older, only kidding Jerry. it was yet another sunny but very windy day, which made for a difficult game, Although the course was in super condition. The first three today had 32 points. So the winner was decided on count back, the scores were so close it was only decided on the the 17th. First today playing off 12.6 cut to 11.6 was Norman Tillbrook. Second playing off 15.1 cut to 14.6 was Tony Anderson. Third playing off 20.6 cut to 20.3 was Roy Sherratt. Nearest the pin in one on hole 13 was the birthday boy himself Jerry Halford. Nearest the pin in two on hole 3 was Arthur Cascoe who also won our guest prize. Unfortunately Jerry could not be with us to present the prizes so it was left to the man himself Bob Sawyer to do the honors |
