Dona Julia - 31st August 2017
Today we travelled to a new course for us Dona Julia. As this was some way from Torreblanca it meant an early start for many of us. Todays game was Sponsored by Mark Mathews and was not only individual stableford but also our end of month competition with the winner going forward to our "Champion of Champions " final. There were three players tying for first place all with 33 points. Our winner with the best back nine playing of 18.6 cut to 17.6 was Catherine Shiels. Second with a slightly worse back nine playing off 25.2 cut to 24.7 was our sponsor Mark Mathews and third playing off 14.9 cut to 14.6 was Patrique Gallet. Nearest the pin in one a par three was Pat O Connor with Andy Hassall nearest the pin in two on a par four. Our thanks to Mark for the great prizes. Santana - 24th August 2017
Todays game at Santana was for individual stableford and was sponsored by Colin "Badger" Bryan. Another great day at Santana with the course in superb condition. Also another hot and humid day making it difficult for some of us. This did not affect today's winner Lynn Yuill who came in with a magnificent score of 42 points. Playing off 22 cut to 18.6. Second with 35 points playing off 21.7 cut to 20.9 was Sally Davies. Third also with 39 points but with a worse back nine, playing off 22.5 cut to 21.9 was Tony Sidebottom. Our guest prize went to Matt Campbell. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was Lynn Yuill with Jerry Halford nearest the pin in two on hole 14. Another super day with our thanks to Colin for the great prizes. La Cala - Europa - 17th August 2017
Todays game was at La Cala playing the Europa course. It was for individual stableford. Another very hot and sunny day here on the coast. We started with coffee/tea and pastries at the club house before it was time to venture out in the heat. The course was difficult but most of us enjoyed the challenge. Our winner today with 35 points playing off 8.5 cut to 7.4 was once again Des Hamilton. Second with 32 points playing off 24 cut to 23.5 was Robyn Wheeler. Third also with 32 points but with a worse back nine playing off 6.3 cut to 6 was Bob Sawyer. Our guest prize was won by Matt Campbell. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was Bob Sawyer with nearest the pin in two on hole 6 was Tim Hemming. Another great day rounded of with fun a the Red Dragon. Guadalhorce - 10th August 2017
Todays game at Guadalhorce was individual stableford. It was also our version of the PGA so there was silverware to be won. Luckily the weather was a bit cooler. Despite the course being in good condition with the exception of the winner there was no high scores. Our winner today, taking the PGA trophy, with 35 points playing off 9.7 cut to 8.6 was Des Hamilton. Second with 32 points playing off 12.7 cut to 12.2 was Eugene Kerr. Third also with 32 points but with a worse back nine playing off 15.1 cut to 14.8 was Pat Gallet. Nearest the pin in one on hole 2 was Des Hamilton. There was no winner for nearest the pin in two on hole 14. No one made the green in two. Lauro - 3rd August 2017
Todays game at Lauro was individual stableford. On a very hot day with the course in good condition a few of us hardy Brits. went to Lauro to play holes 10 to 27. Despite the heat there were some good scores and despite losing a few kilos we all enjoyed the day. Our winner with 35 points playing off 16.3 cut to 15.1 was Pat Gallet. Second also with 35 points but with a slightly worse back nine playing off 24.7 cut to 23.9 was Robyn Wheeler. Third with 33 points playing off 12.5 cut to 12.3 was Andy "Marigold" Hassall. Our guest prize was won by Grant Malcolm. Nearest the pin in one on hole 2 was Sue Cobb with Grant Malcolm nearest the pin two on hole 16. Back at the Red Dragon it was Trish who saved the day. Spraying a mist of water to keep us cool. |
