Atalaya 29th August 2019
For today's game at Atalaya we played the New Course. It was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by Mark Mathews. It was also our end of month competition with the winner going forward to the "Champion of Champions final in June. This is only the 2nd time we have played this course but it definitely wont be the last. It was once again a very hot and humid day, however the course was in superb condition. This was reflected in the scores. Our winner today scoring 38 points playing of 14.8 now cut to 13.6 was that man again Adrian Martin. Second with 36 points playing off 14.9 cut to 14.2 was our Captain of the northern Ryder Cup Team Catherine Shiels. Third with 35 points playing of 27.7 cut to 27. 4 was Finbar Carroll. Our guest prize was won by John Gardner plying of 18.2 came in with a magnificent score of 40 points. Nearest the pin in one on hole 17 was Bob Sawyer with Jason Kotowaski nearest the pin in two on hole 5. The Parador 22nd August 2019
Today we played at The Parador. It was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by Torreblanca Golf Society. The course was in its usual good condition with greens being superb. The one disadvantage for us all was the tee positions. They were along way back. The other disadvantage was the weather its very very humid. However this did not stop us from enjoying the day. First today with a score 34 points playing of 16.8 cut to 15.8 was Adrian Martin. Second with 30 points playing off 26.3 cut to 25.7 was Bill "The Weatherman" Giles. Third with 26 points playing off 25.1 cut to 24.8 was John Yuill. Our guest prize was won by Ewen McLeod. A special mention must go to our guest Lucy Kotawaski she is only eleven years old and this was her first time playing of an 18 hole course. Playing off 36 she came in with 26 points. This is a young girl to watch. Well done Lucy. Mijas Los Lagos 15th August 2019
Today we played at Mijas where we played the Los Lagos Course It was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by Grant Malcolm. The course was in Superb condition although it played long, this was reflected in the scores, plus of course it was another very hot and sunny day. Our winner today with 33 points playing of 11.2 cut to 10.2 was Gary Sparrow. Second with 30 points playing of 11.3 cut to 10.8 was Tony White. Third with 28 points playing off 12.3 cut to 12 was Des Hamilton. Our Guest prize was won by Adrian Martin. Today we played at Santana It was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by Gary Sparrow. It was also his birthday, although he was reluctant to tell us how old he was today. It was another extremely hot day with the course in its usual perfect condition. Although it was playing long with the tees moved quite away back. Our winner today with score of 38 points playing off 6.1 cut to 4.7 was young Lewis Harrison. Second with 36 points playing off 9.9 cut to 9.2 was our cheerful landlord of the Red Dragon Andy "Marigold" Hassall. Third with 35 points, on count back, playing off 25.7 cut to 25.1. Despite having just come out of hospital was John Yuill Our guest prize was won by Joyce Toms. Nearest the pin in one for men on hole 7 was not won as nobody managed to hit the green. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 for Ladies was won by Joyce Toms.. That is despite Tony White getting all excited thinking he had won until he realized he was the wrong gender. Nearest the pin in two on hole 14 was won by Adrian Martin. Nearest the pin in three on hole 10 was won by Paul Cunningham. It was then time to celebrate Gary's birthday, including a very large cake supplied by the Red Dragon Valle Romano 1st August 2019
Today we played at Valle Romano a course we had only played once before. It was for individual stableford and was kindly sponsored by Der Carolan. It was another very hot day with the course in good condition. The course had recently changed around so I,m reliable informed by those members with good memories. Despite the heat those of us who traveled to Estapona had a great day, That is except Paul Winter who had his car towed away. Our winner today scoring 35 points playing off a handicap of 20.3 cut to 19 was Peter Mc Donald. Second with a score of 33 points playing off 11.7 cut to 11.2 was Tony White. Third also with 33 points but with a worse back nine playing off 17.1 cut 16.8 was Don Crowley. Our guest prize was won by Mark Durham. Nearest the pin in one on hole 4 was Tony White with Bob Sawyer nearest the pin in two on hole 13. |
