The Parador 21st February 2019
Today's game at Parador was for individual stableford. It was not only "Bob's Birthday Bash" but it was our end of month competition. With a beautiful sunny day and the course in great condition it was a perfect day for golf. Although the greens were difficult and caught many of us out. Our winner toady with only 32 points playing off 7.1 cut to 6.1 and going forward to our "Champion of Champions" final was Michael Duffin. Second with 31 points playing off 19.4 cut to 18.9 was Tony Sidebottom. Third with 30 points playing off 25.3 cut to 25 was Dennis "the younger" Reagan. There was a special prize for the best lady and this was won by Gayle Laybourn. Our guest prize was won by Phelim Dougherty. Nearest the pin one on hole 13 was Ray Critcher and nearest the pin in two on hole 3 was Phelim Dougherty. We also played a game in our knock out competition Robyn Wheeler beat Ian Ashworth on the last hole. Today was also a double celebration as not only was it Bob's birthday it was also the birthday of Len Wood who is 80 years young, I hope look as good as Len at 80. We celebrated their birthdays at the Red Dragon with two cakes kindly supplied by Andy and Trish. Marbella 21st February 2019
Today's game at Marbella was for individual stableford and was sponsored by Catherine Shiels. Second also with 35 points, but with a worse back nine, playing off 16.7 cut to 16 was David Henderson. Third with 34 points playing off 11.7 cut to 11.2 was Sean Fenton. Our guest prize was once again won by the amiable Canadian Michel Gouin. Nearest the pin in one on hole 9 was Derek Jones with Bob Sawyer nearest the pin in two on hole 5. Our thanks to Catherine for the great prizes, Santana 7th February 2019
Today's game at Santana was for individual stableford and was sponsored by Barry Douglas. The greens proved the downfall of many of us, they were slow and the pin positions difficult. Add to that it was a very cold day here on The Costa Del Sol. But that did not stop us from enjoying our game. Our winner today with 34 points playing off 10.3 cut to 9.3 was Phil Ashcroft. Second also with 34 points, but with a worse back nine, playing off 15.4 cut to 14.9 was Paul Barrett. Third with 33 points playing off 17 cut to 16.7 was David Henderson. Our guest prize was won by Michel Gouin. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was Tony Sidebottom with Sean Fenton Nearest the pin in two on hole 14. We also played three games in our "Knock out Competition". Paul Winter beat Patrique Gallet, Tony Anderson beat Catherine Shiels and Sean Fenton Beat Andy Hassall. Thanks to Barry for the great prizes. Guadalhorce 7th February 2019
Today's game at Guadalhorce was for individual stableford and was sponsored by Howard Ablett. Unfortunately the course was undergoing extensive drainage repairs on holes 10. 17 and 18 so there were temporary fairways and greens. Despite the heavy winds and the course changes the majority of us enjoyed the day. Although except for the winner the scores were very low. Our winner today playing off 18.2 cut to 17 was David Henderson. Second with 29 points playing off 26.5 cut to 26 was Shan Ashcroft. Third with 28 points playing off 10.6 cut to 10.3 keeping it in the family was Phil Ashcroft. Our gust prize was won by Michel Gouin. Nearest the pin in one on hole 2 was Phil Ashcroft with Tim Hemming nearest the pin in two on hole 13. |
