Today was individual stableford points and was sponsored Eugene & Niamh Kerr. Today we joined in The Golf News day competition, the format was pairs better ball plus our own individual stableford competition. We sadly didn't have higher handicaps for the day so none of our pairs manged to get in the prizes, a good effort from Bob & Simon who manged 42 points. We did win two nearest the pins well done to Keith and Simon. Our competition was won by Vincent McKenna with 37 points off 8.7 cut to 7.4. Second was Simon Waby also with 37, but not such a good back nine off 5 cut to 4.2. Third was David Laybourn with 33 off 9 cut to 8.7. Nearest the pins with to Keith Jones and Simon Waby. Ladies prize went to Cathy Shiels, our guest prize went to David Hemmingway. Thanks to Ed at the Golf News for a great days gold and some good refreshments after. A big thank's to Eugene & Niamh for some great prizes. Next week is Santana and our version of the PGA, get some practice in guys its a wonderful prize to win. Torerquebrada Golf Club 14th July 2016
Today was individual stableford points and was sponsored Jerry Halford. A great day for golf, we had some cloud cover and a breeze to keep the temperature down. The course was a superb condition, although the greens looked great they where a little slow. Today we also played for our versions of the British Open (without the wind and rain). Todays winner was with the lowest score for quite a while, with 2 points that was Ken Fisher with 32 points off 13 cut to 12. Second also with 32 but a not so great back nine Simon Waby off 5.5 cut to 5. Third also with 32 but with a worse back 6 was David Laybourn off 9.3 cut to 9. Nearest the pin in one was Matt Brown (at least he finished his round this week), nears the 1st in 3 was Vincent Mckenna. We had 14 guest today, I would like to thanks them all for helping us make such a great day on a great course, a big thank you To Jason Senior for organising his 8 players for me! The guest scoring was a little better than the members, with a couple of 38's and more scores around there, our winner would have been one of Jason's Guest's with a massive 45 points off 6 but as he didn't come back to the bar we had to give to the highest guest that came back that was John Brown with a very good 38 off 7.8 cut to 6.8. A big thanks to Jerry for the sponsorship, he had arranged prizes for all the par 3's and fives, but most the winners both guest's and members didn't make it back. Thanks to Trish and her guys back at the bar, had work in that heat. Well done to Ken Fisher he picks up this years British Open trophy. Next week is the Golf News competition at Los Flamingos and is pairs, better ball. Mijas Golf Club La Largos 7th July 2016
