Santana - 20th July 2017
Todays game at Santana was sponsored by the lovely Lynn Yuill who we are told was also celebrating her birthday this week. Our format today was individual stableford. We were also playing one of our majors "The Torreblanca Open" plus it was our end of month competition with the winner going forward to the "Champion of Champions" Final. So a chance to win some silverware today. It was a very hot and sunny day and as usual the course was in superb condition. Our winner today, taking the trophy and going forward to the final with a great 37 points playing off 9 cut by 1.2 was Vincent Robinson. Second with 35 points playing off 27 cut by .08 was Paul Winter. Third with 33 points playing off 22.8 cut by .03 was Peter McDonald. Our guest prize was won by Matt Campbell. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was Vincent McKenna with Matt Campbell nearest the pin in two on hole 14. The longest putt on the 18th went to Bill "The Weather Man" Giles. There were two formats for today’s game at La Cala America. Our normal individual stableford and "Bogey". The day was sponsored by Ken Fisher and Bill Perkins. This was the first time many of us had played the America course. So after a buffet breakfast of pastries it was time to begin. It started well with the first three holes being flat and open, however it all changed after that with narrow fairways and lots of bushes and scrub to clear from the tees. Despite that and the low scores everyone said they enjoyed it. The winner of the "Bogey" competition with a score of +3 was Sue Cobb, with Lynn Yuill second with -1 and Eugene Kerr third with -2. The winner of the stableford competition with 34 points playing off 15.6 cut to 14.6 was Andy Pritchard. Second with 30 points playing off 20.8 cut to 20.3 was Sue Cobb. Third playing with 28 points playing off 13 cut to 12.7 was Eugene Kerr. Our Guest prize was won by John Brown. Nearest the pin in one on hole 8 was Lynn Yuill with Eugene Kerr Nearest the pin in two on hole 3. Our thanks to Bill and Ken for the super prizes and the different format. Mijas Los Olivos - 6th July 2017
Today’s game at Mijas was once again played on Los Olivos as Los Lagos was closed for more drainage repairs. It was for individual stableford and was sponsored by Robert Lawless. The course was in good condition this enabled some members to have a very good score. The shot of the day went to Tim Hemming who scored an eagle on the 4th hole. Our winner today with a score of 38 points playing off 16 cut by 1.8 to 14.2 was Bill Perkins. Second also with 38 points but with a worse back nine, playing off 24.8 cut to 23.1 was Carl Proctor. Third with 35 points playing off 15.8 cut to 15.3 was Norman Tillbrook. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was Ken Fisher with Tim Hemming nearest the pin in two on hole 13. Our guest prize was won by John Brown. Once again thanks to Robert for sponsoring the day. |
