JUNE 2021
Cabopino Golf 24th June 2021
This week we played the superb Cabopino golf course!
This week was kindly sponsored by Tony Carter.
Cabopino has to be the toughest course we have played for a long time, not only is it a very tight and tricky course. The greens were the fastest and hardest to read we have played in my memory! It is a good job we played Stapleford format as there would have been many over 100's recorded.
The combination of all this produced possibly the lowest scoring day in the society.
It was tight at the top of the leader board with the winner Bob Sawyer scoring only 27 points and 4 other players on 26 points
1st Bob Sawyer 27 pts, playing off 9.5, cut too 9.3
2nd Larry Byrne 26pts, playing off 19.1, now 19.2
3rd Pat O'connor 26pts, playing off 15,now 15.1
Nearest pin hole 15 Andy Hassall
Nearest pin in 2 hole 4 Phil Ginn
The guest prize was won by Julie Sutherland but she asked me not to mention her score here, but you can always check the results page.
Julie took the prize from Dave The Shank, but I am pleased to say Dave had no shanks, he passed that on to his playing partner who almost took out our winner today! Again I can't mention who that was, but It wasn't me or Bob!
Next week we are playing Lauro so if you wish to play please contact John Yuill ASAP

Rio Real 10th June 2021
This week we played the magnificent Rio Real golf course as usual we played Stapleford format, it was in superb condition as usual with lightning fast greens which proved tricky for most players.
The winner on his return was Phil Ginn with a great score followed by last weeks winner Tony White who we played with and started off very well despite some let's say short and errant tee shots, in fact when he did get the ball more than 50 yards off the tee and onto the fairways his scoring went down, in 3rd place was Catherine Shiels.
1st Phil Ginn 38 pts, playing off 18.8, cut too 16.8
2nd Tony White 34 pts playing off 11.5, no change
3rd Catherine Shiels 31pts,playing off 14.7, now 14.8

Mijas Las Largos 3rd June 2021
This week we played Mijas Los Lagos, we played our usual format Stapleford todays event was sponsored by Grant Malcom.
Unfortunately due to ongoing work on the course Mijas wasn't at its usual best!
The course played very long as usual with some very tricky pin positions, there were a variety of scores most of them low apart from our top 3 especially our winner who shot a superb score!
Back at the Red Dragon the usual inquest began into the low scores with lets just say a variety of poor excuses being used!
On top of our normal presentation Ray Critcher was presented with his inscribed hole in 1 trophy from last week at Miraflores, Bob Sawyer kindly arranged the trophy! We also had a surprise birthday party for Sheelagh.
.
