Cabopino 26th November 2015
Another super day at Cabopino with today being sponsored by our favourite Irish comedian Bobby Curran and his lovely wife Phil. The sun was shining although winter is beginning to set in and for those of us that live here it was feeling quite chilly. Although I am pleased to say that as the day wore on the blustery wind died down and it became a perfect temperature for golf. Well what can I say the course was in its usual superb conditions, however greens were lightning fast and apart from a few everybody had trouble The winner today with a great score of 39 points was Larry Byrne. Second with 35 points was Alan Shankland and third with 33 points was Dennis ”Oh Mate” Pollock. The Guest prize was won by Tony Barrass with 25 points. Nearest the pin on two on hole 4 was Alan Shankland with Larry Byrne nearest the pin in one on hole 13. Despite the fact that they have yet again dug up end closed the road outside of the bar it was another evening of good banter and drinks at the Red Dragon. The one downside of the day was once again slow play. Whilst I enjoy watching a sunset I don’t want to see it trying to finish a 5½ hour game of golf. |

Lauro Golf 5th November 2015
Today was individual stableford points sponsored by David Manicom. Whilst despite the earlier heavy and torrential rain most of the course was in first class condition. On talking to everyone, when we eventually arrived back at the Red Dragon, they all seemed to enjoy the course. Unfortunately the day did turn out to be such a great success. The course had booked us in at a later tee time, but forgot to tell us, so we were all waiting on the first tee for some time. This however was not the biggest problem. It was the time it took to complete the round, The course had overbooked and made the round very slow over 5 1/2 hours! Despite the fact it was dark when we had our meal back at the Red Dragon it was still a good day. Today's winner was Ray Critcher with 37 points, second was Andy Hassell with 35 points. |
