November 2017
Santana - 30th November 2017 Todays game at Santana was for individual stableford and was sponsored by Peter and Pauline Bull. It was also our end of month competition with the winner going forward to the "Champion of Champions" final. After the heavy and torrential rain on Wednesday the course was surprisingly in great condition. Whilst it was a bright an sunny there was a bitterly cold wind. Winter had arrived on the Costa del Sol. Our winner today with 36 points playing off 5.5 cut to 4.3 was Jerry Halford. Second with 34 points playing off 35.9 cut to 35.4 was Pat Geraghty. Third with 33 points playing off 21.5 cut to 21.2 was Carl Proctor. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was Howard Ablett with Tony Byrne Nearest the pin in two on hole 14. Our thanks to Peter and Pauline for the great prizes. Calanova - 23rd November 2017

So the positions were decided on countback. The winner playing off 5.9 cut to 4.8 was Simon Waby, great to see Simon back from the UK. Second playing off 22 cut to 21.2 was Tony Sidebottom and third playing off 14.9 cut to 14.4 was Patrique Gallet. Nearest the pin in one on hole 8 was Rob Walker with Charlie Cooper nearest the pin in two on hole 12. Guadalhorce - 16th November 2017
Todays game at Guadalhorce was individual stableford and was sponsored by Leon Dore. Another perfect autumn day with the course in a superb condition. With the course in such a good condition you would have expected some good scores, but no this was not to be. That however did not affect Dave Robertson who got a "Hole in One" on the second. One bounce on the green and straight in the hole, well done Dave. Our winner today with a score of 32 points playing off 23.5 cut to 22.5 was Len Wood. Second also with 32 points but with a worse back nine playing off 11.5 cut to 11 was Dave Robertson. Third with 31 points playing off 15.5 cut to 15.3 was Norman Tillbrook. Nearest the pin in one on hole two was our hole in one king Dave Robertson with Phil Ashcroft nearest the pin in two on hole 14. Our thanks to Leon for the superb prizes. Leon has recently moved to Dorset so the prizes were from there including such things as Piddle Beer. But apart from Dave's hole in one the crowning moment was when Leon, who apart from being a poet is a superb artist, presented our amiable landlord of the Red Dragon with a portrait. Everyone said It was a superb likeness with one exception. "Andy was Smiling. A great end to a perfect day Baviera - 9nd November 2017
Today we travelled a bit further afield to Baviera Nr Velez Malaga. The game was individual stableford and sponsored by Ray Critcher. It was a beautiful Autumn day with the course in perfect condition. Despite this there were no high scores. There were three players with 34 points vying for first place. Third playing off 21.7 cut to 21.4 was Carl Proctor. Nearest the pin in one on hole 15 was Norman Tillbrook with Colin Bryan Nearest the pin in two on hole 3. Once again thanks to Ray for the super prizes. Parador - 2nd November 2017
Todays game at The Parador was for individual stableford. It was the Red Dragon Golf Day, when the amiable landlord of our home bar lavishes us with free drinks and magnificent prices. That had Andy worried. Anyway enough of that dreaming. Today the course was in superb condition with the greens fast but perfect. Because of this you would have expected there to be some very high scores. How wrong can you be, with exception of the winner we all found today very difficult. Our winner today, and the winner of the Red Dragon Trophy, with a score of 38 points playing off 14.8 cut to 13 was Alan Shankland. Second with 33 points playing off 20 cut to 19.5 was Paul Barrett. Third with 32 points playing off 18.7 cut to 18.4 was Ray Mays. The guest prize went to Anthony Tillbrook. Nearest the pin in one on hole 13 was Dave Robertson with Mike Duffin nearest the pin in two on hole 13. Thanks to Andy and Trish for the great prizes. At the end of the day Andy was pleased as in the raffle he was at last able to get rid of the blue bottle of wine. This went to Bob Sawyer. |
