Lauro 28th November 2019
Today we played at Lauro. Playing hoes 10 to 27. The format was individual stableford, with day being kindly sponsored by Mike Milner who unfortunately could not be with us so the prizes were awarded by that man of many talents Bob Sawyer. It was also our "End of Month" competition with the winner going forward to the "Champion of Champions Final" in June. The weather I am pleased to say was a great improvement on last week. The sun was shining and the course in very good condition. Our winner today with a magnificent score of 41 points playing off 18.9 cut to 15.8 was Kenny Bradshaw. Second with 36 points, playing off 6.1 cut to 5.4 also playing his last game this year as he returns to the UK for Christmas was Ray Critcher. Third with 35 points playing off 17.5 cut to 17 was Don Crowley. Nearest the pin in one was Kenny Bradshaw. There was no winner for nearest the pin in two as nobody managed to reach the the green with two shots. Santana 21st November 2019
Today we were going to play at played at Santana the format was individual stableford, with day being kindly sponsored by Pat O Connor. Unfortunately the weather was not good. For most of the time there was intermittent rain, this proved too much for most of the members. However there were three members who decided, despite the weather, to play. The winner was Tony White with 28 points, Bob Sawyer with 22 points and Mark Mathews with 18 points. I understand from the three of them that the course was fine, a little standing water on some fairways but the greens and bunkers were excellent. On the whole they enjoyed the day. Well done guys. Calanova 14th November 2019
Today we played at Calanova. The day was kindly sponsored by Mike Boxall, with the format being a Two Man Texas Scramble. There was a major difference in the scoring. We played at 25% of the pairs combined handicap with this being rounded up to enable the teams to played stableford. It sounded confusing but in fact it was quite simple. With everyone, well nearly everyone, understanding the format. It was a great day with course in good condition. Luckily the rain held off despite it being forecast. However it was very over cast and cloudy. Our winners today was the team of Ray Critcher and Rick Booth who came in with a score of 43 points. Second was John Gardner and Don Crowley. Third also with 41 points but with a worse back nine was Bob Sawyer And Mike Milner Nearest the in one on hole 7 was John Mitchell with Des Hamilton nearest the pin in one on hole 17 Our thanks to Mike Boxall for a very different but enjoyable day. Parador 7th November 2019
Today we played at the Parador. It was a chance to win a trophy as today was the Red Dragon Day sponsored by Andy and Trish owners of our home bar. It started out as a perfect autumn day for golf here on the coast. The course was in superb condition. However things were to change for the worst. There was a sudden downpour of rain which caught most of us by surprise. I like many had left my wet weather cloths behind so I was one of the many who were drenched. Those of us brave souls, or crazy I'm not which, who played through the rain were rewarded when the sun eventually came shone and helped dry us out. Our winner today, and the winner of the Red Dragon Trophy, with a magnificent score of 39 points playing off 25.1 cut to 22.6 was Peter Bull. Second with 35 points playing off 6.7 cut to 6.1 was Ray Critcher and third with 33 points playing off 21.5 cut to 21.2 was Len Wood. The guest prize was won by Jane Leigh with 35 points. Nearest the pin in one on hole 13 was Adrian Martin with Dennis "The Younger" Regan nearest the pin in two on hole 3. |
