Santana 25th November 2021
This week we were back at our home course Santana kindly sponsored by Ian Ashworth and as usual it didn't let us down with the course in great condition on a stunning sunny November day.
Whilst we set off in quite calm conditions by the time we all reached the back 9 the breeze had got up and with alot of the tee boxes pushed back it turned into a tricky last few holes.
We had over 30 golfers playing with 9 guests playing too which made for a competitive guest prize this week.
The main order of merit comp was decided on countback with the winner having a better back 9
The nearest the pin winner was a very delighted Lynn Yuill who talked us through her tee shot but failed to mention at first she never got the birdie but unlike last weeks winner Andy Hassall got the par.
Nearest pin in 2 winner was a guest Keith Baker who put his approach shot to 4 feet, but alas again missed the birdie putt.
Results from Santana
1st Gary Sparrow 36pts, back 9 of 20 points, playing off 11.2, cut to 10.5
2nd Mike Milner 36pts, back 9 of 18 points, playing off 16.8, cut to 16.4
3rd Karl Scruby,34 pts, playing off 21.9, no change
Nearest the pin in 1 hole 2, Lynn Yuill
Nearest the pin in 2, hole 14, Keith Baker
Guest prize was won by Melvin Helme with 34 points
Next week we are playing a 2 man Texas scramble at Mijas Los Olivos, please contact John Yuill ASAP if you wish to play.

CABOPINO GOLF 18TH NOVEMBER 2021
Last week we played Cabopino Golf course, kindly sponsored by Phil and Jan Dodd, for the first time in many a month the weather had turned and we weren't playing In the bright sunshine, in fact with the high winds and cooler temps it made the already challenging course a brutal one, however with 32 players still playing it made for a close if not low scoring day.
Our sponsors kindly made all the par 3 holes Nearest the pin holes and unlike last week they were actually won this week.
One of the stories to come out back at the dragon and the ongoing discussion was if you won a Nearest the pin and subsequent prize you would expect them to get a par or better especially when it was only about 10 feet away but alas we heard that Andy Hassall 3 putted the hole.
Results from Cabopino
1st Tony Sidebottom, 31 pts, playing off 19.5,cut to 19.1
2nd Mike Boxall,playing off 17.6, now off 17.7
3rd Kate "Fore right" Cameron, 30 pts, playing off 21.6,now off 21.7
Nearest pin in 1 hole 7, Len Wood
Nearest pin in 1 hole 13, Andy " 3 putt" Hassall
Nearest pin in 1,hole 15, Lynn Yuill
Nearest pin in 2, hole 3, Gary Sparrow
Guest prize was won by Trevor Oates

Parador 11th November 2021
This week we played the superb Parador Golf and as usual it didn't let us down, the course was in great condition and the greens were some of the best we have putted on all year. The day was kindly sponsored by Peter Mcdonald.
Another glorious November day produced some excellent scores on a challenging long course not least the 9th hole where it was decided to have the nearest the pin hole on, not realising the tees were pushed back and it was over 200 yards and by the time we got round to there the breeze had got up a little and you guessed it, it was into the wind, so therefore no one of the 30 plus players managed to hit it.
After last weeks premature announcement that Bob Sawyer had clinched the order of merit I can confirm that Bob Sawyer has now officially won the order of merit , it was never in doubt really
Back at the Red Dragon, a full terrace awaited the results to be confirmed with a slight delay because 2 players had tied for 3rd place but they had the same back 9, back 6,back 3 scores so had to go eventually to the back 7 holes and unfortunately Andy Hassall was denied a place in the top 3, sorry Andy keep trying.
Results from Parador
1st Phil Dodd 38 pts, playing off 10.6, cut to 10.0
2nd Bob Sawyer 36 pts, playing off 9.3, cut to 9.1
3rd Gary Sparrow 34 pts, playing off 11.1,no change
Nearest the pin hole 9 , nobody
Nearest pin in 2 hole 17, Phil Dodd
Guest prize was won by Rob Corbett with 27 pts, Rob didn't manage to come back to the dragon for the presentation but was presented with his prize later that night by Mike Boxall who assured us all he would get his prize , so being the trusting people we are we asked for photo evidence and we received the photo this morning, no one ever doubted you honest Mike.
Next week we are Cabopino, if you wish to play please contact John Yuill ASAP.
Marbella Golf & Country Club 4th November 2021
This week we played Marbella golf course which was kindly and most generously sponsored by Simon Waby who started his birthday celebrations a couple of days early.
On a most glorious November day where after a chilly start the temperatures were into the low 20's and a motley bunch of 38 golfers gathered, a challenging day began.
The greens were surprisingly very quick which provided some challenging putts not least on the first hole where it was hard to keep the ball on the green, well that was Gary’s excuse anyway.
After all the scores had been checked there was a new face in the winners circle, well done Kim.
Results from Marbella
1st Kim Hunt 34 pts, playing off 21.3,cut to 20.9
2nd Gary Sparrow 33pts, playing off 11.1,no change
3rd Andrew Dodd,32 pts, playing off 10.6, now 10.7
Nearest pin in 1 hole 11, Andy Hassall
Nearest pin in 2 hole 5, Martin England
When the presentation had been done there was birthday celebration to be had and a cake was brought out for Simons birthday, I'm assured there was none left of it pretty quickly.
Next week we are the challenging but superb Parador so please contact John Yuill ASAP if you wish to play.
