Santana Golf 24 November 2022
Last Thursday we played at Santana kindly sponsored by Larry Byrne and was the Medal finals day with the Gross and Net champions being crowned.
Those in the final all played in handicap order and both comps were closely fought on a glorious sunny and warm day.
In the gross category the winner retaining his title was Simon Waby no thanks to a great start of 4 birdies in the first 6 holes.
The Net category was a very close affair with a back 9 countback needed and by 1 shot Larry Byrne won from Ian McCarthy.
There was also a normal medal comp being played by everyone including the finalists, which was the first qualifier for the 2023 finals day.
The gross comp was won by Simon again with the Net comp won by Don Crowley.
Congratulations to all the winners, with Simon and Don through to next year's final.
Afterwards, the presentation was done up at Santana requested by Bob Sawyer as he wanted to share the news and celebrate with everyone that a couple of days before that he and Svitlana had got married down in Gibraltar, so there was tapas and drinks laid on and also a wedding cake, congratulations to you both from all the society.

Marbella GCC 10th November 2022
This week we played a pairs better ball stableford comp sponsored by Simon Waby at Marbella golf club.
This turned out to be a great comp that was enjoyed by everyone, a different format for a change suited most and we also had 6 Nearest the pins that was won by 6 different players.
The winners came in with a great score and rumour has it the winner bought some drinks but that is yet to be confirmed .
Yet again two teams cards came in without a markers score on and resulted in 2 pairs being disqualified, having a markers core on each card has been part of our rules for a long time and is required for all competitions, not just the individual stapleford, please ensure there is a markers score on your card every week.
