Guadalhorce 29 September 2016
Today’s game at Guadalhorce was sponsored by our leader Robyn Wheeler. The course was in good condition, every one found it quite difficult which was a surprise. The wind was up and got stronger as the round went on. Not surprising in the wind a Scotsman took the prize today Todays winner going though to the end of the year "Champions of Champions" final was John Allan with 33 points. Second with 31 points was Les Johnson. Third with 28 points was David Dines. Nearest in the pin in one was Sheila Booth, nearest in two was Rich Booth. Another lively afternoon at the Red Dragon, many thanks to Robyn for some great prizes! THE PARADOR 22nd SEPTEMBER
Today’s game at The Parador was sponsored by that amiable Scotsman Dave Robertson. The weather was perfect calm, warm and Sunny. We were all a bit apprehensive due to rumours that the course was not in good shape. These fears were unfounded as apart from hole 15 being closed and a couple of holes on the back nine being repaired the course was in good condition. To compensate for this we played the 19th . This was where the problems began. Some people thought they had to play the 19th after the 14th and them come back to play the 16th Others went from the 14th to the 16th Consequently there was a big build of people wanting to tee off on the 16th Despite this everyone seemed to enjoy the day, although there were no high scores. The winner with 35 points playing of 17.1 cut by 1.2 was Alun Short Second with 33 points playing off 36 cut to 35.5 was Pat Geraghty Third also with 33 points but with a worse back nine was Colin Bryan playing off 22.9 cut by .3 to 22.6 Nearest the pin in two on hole 3 was Ray Critcher Nearest the pin in one on hole 13 was Tim Hemming. Good to see some different names on the leader board. Another good afternoon back at the Red Dragon. Thanks to Dave Robertson for some great prizes. Today’s game at Santana was sponsored by Colin “Badger” Bryan
Another hot day on the coast with a good turnout of players as this was our last game before the Ryder Cup. The course unfortunately had been recently hollow tined so it wasn’t in its usual pristine condition. Despite a couple of complaints I am pleased to say the majority enjoyed it Also looking at the high scores I have to say that the condition of the greens did not affect their games The Winner with 40, yes 40 points was Lynn Yuill. Second with 39 was Sue Cobb. Third also with 39 but with a worse back nine was Dave Rogers. Nearest the pin in one on hole 16 was our newly wed Phil Ashcroft with Terry Smith nearest the pin in two on hole 14. Both Lynn and Sue were pleased to hear that the handicaps for the Ryder Cup were taken from last week’s game. Well it had to be seen to be believed after a 12 months of the road being closed outside the Red Dragon it is again closed. Something to do with water pipes Because of this unfortunately many people were unable to park and did not make it back. Next week it’s the Ryder Cup at Costa Ballena Mijas Golf Course - Las largos 1st September 2016
Today was individual stableford points and was sponsored Tim Hemming. The course was in great condition, it played long which kept the scoring down. Todays winner was Ruth Thompson with 34 points off 33.9 cut to 32.9. Second was Cathy Shiels with 33 points off 20.3 cut to 19.7. Third was Darrell Willis also with 33, but not such a good back nine off 18.9 cut to 18.6. Nearest the pin in one was Kenny Nelson, nearest in two was John Davis. Our Guest winner was Bruce Seaman with 32. Well done to our winners. Thanks again to Tim for some great prizes, although he could be with us. Thanks to Trish and the girls for the normal great service. |
