Santana 30th September 2021
This week we were back at our home course Santana kindly sponsored by Phil Ginn.
The course was in great condition and with the temperatures still in the mid 20's it was a glorious end to September.
After the last 2 of weeks comparatively low scores it was back to the usual high scores at Santana.
With a full house again of over 40 players the top 3 could only be separated on countback which meant Lynn had to put her wine down for a bit longer and check the cards several times.
The winner in the end was Phil Dodd with Simon Waby 2nd and back in the top 3 AGAIN after his humiliation at the Ryder Cup at the hands of his wife John Yuill although when he realised he had been cut 3 shots he came back down to earth a bit.
The guest prize was won by Dave " Five Shank"Errington, I am sure by the end of the year he may have more shanks than points.
Results from Santana
1st Phill Dodd 40 pts, playing off 11.8, cut to 10.3
2nd Simon Waby 40 pts, playing 5.8, cut to 5.2
3rd John Yuill 40 pts, playing off 27.5, cut too 25.1
Nearest pin in 1 hole 2, Phil Dodd
Nearest pin in 2 hole 14, Simon Waby
Guest prize Dave Errington 29pts
Next week we are at Lauro, if you wish to play, please let John Yuill know ASAP.

Rio Real 23rd September 2021
Last week we were at Rio Real, it was our 1st game since Robyn's passing last weekend.
In honour of the Boss, John and Lynn Yuill made up some black bows for all to wear in memory of Robyn.
After the golf there was a full terrace at the Red Dragon, there was a good turn out of golfers, along with a few members we had not seen for a while who came too honour Robyn.
Before the presentations Bob Sawyer said a very touching tribute to Robyn outlining his life and hobbies as well as the dedication and fine work in running the society
.
A few others also added to Bobs word, before a round of applause and a toast to the Boss, this was a fitting tribute to Robyn who will be sadly missed by us all.
As we all know Robyn would of wanted us to get on with the presentations and after the scores had been checked out winner was Kate "fore left" Cameron, again the scores were lower this week due to some tricky greens and obviously the greenkeeper had woken up in a bad mood as some of the pin placements were in difficult positions.
Results from Rio Real
1st Kate Cameron 33 pts, playing off 21.9, cut to 21.5
2nd Mike "Ian" Milner 31 pts, better back 9,playing off 16.5,now 16.6
3rd Brian Rowlands,31 pts, playing off 9.8,now 9.9
Nearest pin hole 6, Kate Cameron
Nearest pin in 2 hole 17, Gary Sparrow

Parador Golf Club 16th September 2021
This week we played one of our favourite courses Parador kindly sponsored by Ray May's.
The course was in the best condition we have seen it for probably 18 months with superb fairways and greens.
This weeks numbers were the best for a very long while, 43 “golfers” playing, with some returning members from the UK that had not been seen for nearly 2 years so there was a lot of catching up done before and after the golf.
The course played long this week with a stiff breeze to challenge any player, the scores were comparatively low (not unusual for Pardor) but it was very close in the end with only 1 point separating the top 6 and the top 2 separated on countback of the last 6 holes.
Our winner this week was a different player last week when playing the Ryder Cup, it may have been the pressure of player his wife for the trousers last week, but he managed to bring a better game! Maybe last week’s embarrassment spurred him on?? Well, done John, you get one leg of the trousers back!
Results from Parador.
1st John Yuill 33 points,playing off 28.0,cut to 27.5
2nd Dave Robertson 33 points playing off 11.2 no change
3rd Andy Hassall 32 points,playing off 11.6,now off 11.7
Nearest pin in 1 hole 9,Dave Sumsion
Nearest pin in 2, hole 3 ,Gordon Bathgate

Mijas Las Largos 2nd September 2021
This week we played Mijas Los Olivos, although its now September there was still no let up in the high temperatures so the order of the day was plenty of liquids on the course and as normal plenty off the course afterwards.
With 28 players this was our biggest turn out for quite a while, and it was great to see new and old faces back over from the UK.
The day was kindly sponsored by Jamie Wilson
The course played its usual best with some wicked pin positions but alas to our overall winner these proved not too challenging and in the end was a comfortable winner.
Results from Mijas Los Olivos
1st Bob Sawyer, 39 pts , playing off 9.5,cut to 8.8
2nd Andy Hassall,34 pts, playing off 11.7,no cut
3rd Brian Rowlands, 33pts playing off 9.8,no cut
Nearest the pin in 1, hole 16 , Lynn Yuill with a superb shot to 4 feet and yes she got the birdie.
Nearest the pin in 2, hole 17, Brian Rowlands
Next week we take a break from the order of merit and are playing our version of the Ryder cup, North v South.
The teams are captained by Simon Waby for the North and Colin Bryan for the South, the competition will be played over 2 days , Thursday at Mijas Los Lagos and Friday at Santana and is sure to be very competitive.
If you still wish to be included, please let Simon or John know as soon as possible.
The pairings etc will be sent out sometime soon and will be also put on here when we get them
